The Juans — consisting of Carl Guevarra, Japs Mendoza, Chael Adriano and RJ Cruz — welcomed 2025 by releasing their new single “Pasensyoso,” which seems to be a prelude to their upcoming full album.

“Pasensyoso,” which was released on Friday, Jan. 17, is rich with acoustic melody while the pop-rock band croons about the value of being patient when it comes to the person they love.

As seen from its lyrics video, it contains the lines “Sabi mo ‘oo,’ ‘yun pala hindi / Lagi na lang ba ‘kong magkakamali / Kahit ano pang piliin mo / Kayang maghintay kapag seryoso / ‘Di kailangan mag-atubili / Teka lang muna at wag magmadali.”

Adriano composed and co-arranged the single, while Mendoza served as the co-arranger and co-producer, as well as took charge of mixing and mastering.

The Juans also announced that a full album is currently in the works. Details are yet to be disclosed, but they said it contains a “familiar hugot and new themes” for listeners.

Gorman will become chairman on Jan. 2, 2025. He will succeed Mark Parker, who is leaving after serving on Disney’s board for nine years.

Unemployment among young people and college graduates jumped from 13.2% in June to 17.1% in July, as some 12 million students entered the labour market, before the August figure rose to its highest level since the National Bureau of Statistics decided to change the methodology to not include students in December 2023.

“Each member is stepping up to take a bigger role in shaping the band’s sound this time. We’re not just sticking to what’s familiar — trying kami this time ng ibang genres (we’re trying different genres) and we’ll push our creative boundaries to bring something fresh sa fans,” Cruz said in a press statement.

Adriano, meanwhile, hinted that their new music explores the pop-rock band’s journey. “We plan to release more tracks that explore our journey through relationships, healing, and finding our way.”

The band is preparing for a nationwide tour to connect with fans, whom they refer to as “Juanistas.” The album and tour, according to Guevara, is a sign of bigger things to come for the year.

“Iba talaga ang energy ng crowd (The crowd’s energy is different). We love testing new songs in our live shows and seeing how people react. If we’re excited, they’re excited. If we’re feeling something deep, they’re feeling it too,” Mendoza said.

The Juans is best known for their songs “Hindi Tayo Pwede,” “Hatid,” “Dulo” and “Balisong.”
