Through this initiative, the World Bank will invest in the government’s national fiber optic backbone, middle-mile and last-mile connectivity infrastructure.

Not the results she wanted, Filipino tennis star Alex Eala’s 2025 Australian Open campaign came to a disappointing end as she fell short of making it to the main draw once again.

The 19-year-old Filipina tennis sensation was eliminated in the qualifiers after a tough 7-5, 6-2 loss to Croatia’s Jana Fett.

Despite the early exit, Eala remains optimistic and determined to rise stronger from this setback.

Following her match, the Rafa Nadal Academy student took to social media to express her emotions, sharing a message with her supporters.

“Sadly, my run in this year’s [Australian Open] is much shorter than I’d hoped. Disappointed to say the least, but that’s tennis – constantly falling down and picking yourself up, week by week, believing one day you’ll end up on top. So much love for you Melbourne. I’ll be back,” she wrote.

Fans then showered her with overwhelming support saying, “Was a pleasure watching you! Keep your head up going on,” and send some positive messages.

“Come back again next year and we will be supporting you always,” one user added.

Though her journey in Melbourne was cut short, Eala’s upward trajectory in the global tennis scene remains remarkable.

She recently achieved a new career-high Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) ranking, climbing nine spots from No. 147 to No. 138. This latest milestone underscores her steady rise among the world’s elite players as she continues to soar higher than ever.

Eala’s previous career-best ranking of No. 143 came in 2024 after an impressive performance at the W100 Vitoria-Gasteiz tournament in Spain, where she captured titles in both singles and doubles.

Her relentless drive and continuous improvement have been key to her success, even as she navigates the challenges of competing at the highest level.

While this year’s Australian Open did not go as planned, the young star has shown time and again that setbacks only fuel her desire to improve.

Fans can look forward to her next tournaments, where she aims to build on her growing momentum and continue representing the Philippines on the world stage.
